A Life Devoted to Wildlife: The Biography of Moira Greyling
Moira Grelyling exhibited a natural curiosity and academic drive for nature and the conservation of wildlife from a young age.
All her life she harboured an unwavering love for animals and a deep concern for their wellbeing. This connection with the animal kingdom would later shape her life’s journey.
Initially, she aspired to become a veterinarian; however, fate had a different plan in store for her. During an open day visit to the Sondela Wildlife Centre, she had a transformative experience led by Lindi Scheepers, one of her most influential mentors. She discovered an overwhelming connection to wildlife conservation and the crucial role it played in safeguarding animal populations.
She had found her purpose and it became clear to her that her true calling lay in wildlife education and conservation.
Teaching and empowering others driven by a newfound purpose, her passion for teaching blossomed. Recognizing the importance of educating others about wildlife conservation, she obtained skills as a facilitator, assessor, and coach. By sharing her knowledge and insights with both aspiring wildlife professionals and animal lovers, she found fulfilment in nurturing not only the lives of animals but also the minds of her students.
